Quality and Choice in Plasterboards

With its range of plasterboard, Knauf offers consistently first class performance from a wide choice of specification. The range comprises both standard and high performance plasterboards.

High Performance Gypsum Technology

High purity gypsum makes Knauf plasterboards light, strong and easy to cut. Stringent quality control procedures are observed in full compliance with ISO 9002 and BS 1230: Part 1: 1985.

So specifies, clients and contractors can all count on achieving the best and result.

Excellent Fire Resistance

Gypsum itself is non-combustible. So by definition, any of the plasterboards range is acknowledged to contribute to the fire resistance of the structure in which it is used. Where extra protection is required. Knauf Fireshield would provide increased resistance to fire. Knauf plasterboard provides excellent natural fire resistance and are designated as Class 0 materials under the Building Regulations 1991, Approved Document B.

Sound Reduction

All plasterboards offer excellent sound reduction qualities whether used in drywall systems, ceilings, wall linings or separating walls. Knauf Drywall Systems are tested in full accordance with BS 2750: 19080 and the values calculated in accordance with BS 5821: 1984

Thermal Resistance

They also contribute to thermal insulation. Actual levels of performance in this respect depend on board type, system and application.

Thermal Performance

Standard plasterboard has a thermal conductivity figure of k=0.16 W/mk and thermal resistance as follows:

  • 9.5mm   = 0.06m2k/w
  • 12.5mm = 0.08m2k/w
  • 15.0mm = 0.09m2k/w
  • 19.0mm = 0.12m2k/w

Knauf Fireshield has a thermal conductivity figure of k=0.24W/mk and thermal resistance as follows:

  • 12.5mm = 0.05m2k/w
  • 15.0mm = 0.06m2k/w

Knauf Moistershield has a thermal conductivity figure of k=0.16W/mk and thermal resistance as follows:

  • 9.5mm   = 0.06m2k/w
  • 12.5mm = 0.08m2k/w
  • 15.0mm = 0.09m2k/w

Knauf Soundshield has a thermal conductivity of k=0.16 W/mk and thermal resistance as follows:

  • 12.5mm   = 0.05m2k/w
  • 15.0mm   = 0.06m2k/w

Weight

Knauf plasterboards are exceptionally light and the following figures can be used as guidance

  • 9.5mm     = 7.3kg/m2
  • 12.5mm   = 9.2kg/m2
  • 14.0mm   = 12kg/m2

Storage

KNAUF Plasterboard must be stored in dry conditions on a flat surface not more than 3 packs high.

Site Work

KNAUF Plasterboard must be installed in full accordance with Knauf’s recommendations and those of BS 8212: 1995 and BS 8000: Part 8 1994

Health and Safety

KNAUF Plasterboard must be handle with care; boards must be carried with care; boards must be carried on their edges. When cutting, ensure adequate ventilation. Refer to Knauf Health and Safety literature and HSE publications

Decorations

Decoration

 

Prior to decoration, a coat of primer should be applied onto the surface of Knauf plasterboard using a roller of brush. Conventional paint finishes or wallpaper can be applied directly for decoration.
